In the Summer of 2021, when going out was finally legal again, Swordes made her debut playing at the many warehouse raves and parties of Brooklyn, New York’s underground scene. Fearless, pop leaning, and addicted to melody, her live set is hardware synths, drum machines, and an emotive, operatic vocal. There’s no computer in sight. Originally from Honolulu, Hawaii, Swordes moved to New York City to pursue a fine arts education at Parsons School of Design. After a year of school and becoming disillusioned with academia, she began making music as a joke. With her only vocal training being her shower, and her only musical training being nonexistent, Swordes’s style is eclectic, experimental, and most of all, fun. In a world saturated with hyper-produced computer music, auto tuned vocals, and Big Label Sensibility, she instead reflects an honest, poetic, and deeply personal artwork. Swordes still writes, produces, records, and mixes all of her music, and has incorporated her origins as a visual artist in her cover art and aesthetic.

I am a female punk/rap artist from Coventry recording everything in my mates shed. We are completely DIY. Our first ever live set was a live lounge on BBC Radio 6 which then led on to us supporting SOFT PLAY, The Libertines and STONE early 2024 (i am also due to feature on STONES upcoming album too). My sound is heavy, energetic and relatable telling stories of growing up in Britain bringing similar vibes to Hak Baker, The Streets, The Prodigy, Amyl and The Sniffers and any early UK punk.
