Awareness

What do we understand by Awareness?

At blechsonne, we perceive awareness on one hand as sensitivity towards the sense of security and the boundaries of other people, and on the other hand, as the fundamental awareness of political and societal power dynamics and the resulting injustices. Blechsonne takes a clear stance against racism, sexism, homo-, bi-, inter- & transphobia, ableism, antisemitism, and all forms of discrimination!

At blechsonne, we aspire to create a space with as little discrimination as possible. Therefore, it is crucial to be sensitive to injustices. Our white, heteronormative majority society leads to varying degrees and intensities of stigmatization, marginalization, disadvantage, degradation, injury, and persecution of individuals. This occurs, for example, based on gender identity, sexual orientation, skin color, origin, religion, disability, age, or through multiple discrimination categories simultaneously (intersectionality). Hence, we wish for a thoughtful interaction with each other. All of this, of course, with a clear goal: as a group with all our diverse experiences and life realities, to watch out for each other so well that we can create a festival where we can all have a few truly great and carefree days together!

In 2024, we are once again present with a trained Awareness Team on-site. If needed or in crisis situations, we are here to support you.

Feedback

We strive to consider our awareness work in the context of societal discourses. Since we consist of individuals who learn individually and collectively, our work is in constant flux. If you feel overlooked, attacked, discriminated against in our public appearance or specific actions, or if you have any other comments, we would appreciate it if you write to us. You can reach us at awareness@blechsonne.org.
